Surface restoration is an important process to keep the turfgrass surface in good condition. After every event the surface is compacted, divot marks can be seen, and sand or topsoil is pushed upwards to the turfgrass surface. This gives an uneven and rough surface which could cause injuries to players and doesn’t look good aesthetically.
If this condition is not rectified immediately, it could cause bigger issues which would require time and cost to rectify. A Quadraplay could easily rectify this.
An implementation of Quadraplay carries out four operation in one pass which involves:-
a. Spiking - Spiking is a form of aeration through the shallow penetration of the turfgrass surface by blades. Spiking provides short term alleviation of surface compaction. It can be used with minimal disruption of the playing surface.
b. Combing/Raking - A series of sharpen metal hooks is gently combed over the turfgrass to level high points beneath the turfgrass and opens the surface by removing thatch.
c. Brushing - Brushing lifts the plant leaves and stems above the soil surface and also forces topsoil within the grass zone back into the surface.
d. Rolling - Rolling is a method of correcting minor variations in the turfgrass surface particularly those caused by “footing” effect. Rolling also presses the plant back into the soil after being heaved upward during a game, and gives a desirable stripping effect.
