RVS™ (Refill Verti -Slit), was developed to rectify drainage issues on an existing field where removing the grass would be undesirable.
Under what conditions can RVS™ be applied?
The field was installed with drainage but it is not effective anymore. You want to improve the drainage without removing the grass.
The field has no drainage system installed and now you would like to install drainage without removing the grass.
You want to improve the drainage system and replace the grass as well.
You want to build a low budget conventional playing field.
Normally subsoil drainage pipes are installed at certain distances. In order to enhance the percolation of rainwater, we cut slits in the ground perpendicular to the drainage lines at 250 mm apart and 200mm deep. This method removes the surface water quickly and the cost of doing so is much cheaper.
If you wish to replace the grass and improve the existing drainage system, the processes are as follows;
The surface is removed by Koroing, a very quick and efficient way to remove the surface layer. The Top Maker was used in this process, whereby 8000 square meters of turf was removed in 6 hours. The surface was cleaned and levelled in this single process, ready for the next step.
320 tons of fine sand was spread over the entire field. A Speeddresser was used and the process was completed in 4 hours.
A deep tine aerator was used to shatter the soil. A 24mm diameter tine was used with a working depth of 400mm.
This process was carried out when the surface was dry, to allow the sand to find its way into the holes created by the aerator.
A linear aerator was used to create slits perpendicular to the drainage lines to a depth of 150mm.
This process was carried out when the surface was dry, to allow the sand to find its way to the slits created by the aerator.
The above process was carried out when the surface was dry, to allow the sand to find its way to the slits created by the machine.
A dragmat was further used to move the sand into the slits.
The field was seeded with Bermuda Princess 77 seeds followed by the grooming process.
