TATS™ (Tropical Artificial Turf System), for soccer, is a FIFA certified system that takes into consideration tropical climate conditions. The conditions being the high rainfall and surface temperature.
The picture on the right shows the failure in the base/sub-surface drainage design. Waterlogged surfaces and infill runoff are becoming common in the tropics.
These conditions prompted us to develop TATS™.
FIFA certified systems are tested for turf infiltration rate both with and without infill at their endorsed laboratory and the comparison was minor. On average the FIFA certified turf has an infiltration of 2500mm/hr to 3000mm/hr, therefore concluding that the cause of the waterlogging was not from the turf but instead from the base drainage design.
TATS™ base and drainage are designed to suit the tropical weather conditions.
A specially designed drainage layer in TATS™ allows rainwater to percolate through quickly minimizing the surface runoff. This prevents waterlogged conditions and infill runoff.
TATS™ uses a cast-in-situ shockpad which is a special mixture (RSP 35) of polyurethane, SBR and fine stones that are paved using a specialized machine. This system allows rainwater to percolate through at a higher rate than the drainage layer.
TATS™ has been designed, tested and proven to be able to handle thunderstorm in the tropics. The shockpad and the drainage layer have a warranty of 25 years.
TATS™ artificial turf is from Europe, which has been enhanced specifically to suit the tropical drainage design. The turf has a warranty of 8 years.
Infill material is sourced locally however; it goes through stringent quality checks by our technical experts.
TATS™ provides an all-encompassing solution to the tropical climate turf issue. From concept design, all the way to maintenance and aftercare, TATS™ can provide a perfect system worthy of its FIFA Quality Pro certification.
